My Experience, 1970

I saw something a few years ago that I'll never forget,
It was a foggy morning--it was wet,
I went to a chapel on the top of a hill,
I saw a sight that my soul was filled--
With wonder and awe,
It was Heaven that I saw.

It was gold and tall--on the horizon it stood,
It seemed to be quite good,
There is not a city that can comprehend it,
But there is something I have to admit,
No one else saw it,
Protestants, Catholics, and Jews believe what I saw.

But how many have seen,
Except those who've been,
There was not a city near that place,
Now I'll run life's race,
And I'll have it in my heart,
That's a start.
