A Day in the Life of a Yellow Balloon, 1971

Helium causes stretch of rubber,
Like food coming to a stomach,
Going into expansion of inner nature.

Rising to lofty heights,
Through tall statues,
To worlds unknown.

Drifting to useless heights,
Without reason or rhyme,
Suddenly exploding.

Shreds of rubber floating down,
People staring at the explosion,
A child is crying at the dead pieces.

An ambulance comes to the Chinese house,
The fat boy is carried out,
A yellow balloon has been defeated by a lot of hot air.
